I am proud to have been nominated for a Positive Role Model Award (LGBT+ category) in the National Diversity Awards 2020. The competition is really stiff for this award as I know there are so many incredible people who thoroughly deserve this award, so every vote counts. Please CLICK HERE if you wish to vote for me. Voting closes on 8th June 2020.
When people vote for me, they are given the chance to say why they are voting for me and I get to see the comments that they make, albeit anonymously. Here are some of the lovely comments that have been made about me so far:
Katie is an incredible person. She has helped me so very much and has been a wonderful role model of strength. She has shown me kindness and support as well as been uplifting for me in my darkest moments. I admire her, and trust her integrity. She is definitely deserving of this award.
I knew Katie when Kat was a kitten, the values she exhibits and promotes today were always there, although it must have taken huge courage to transition. She is now using her own experience to support others and to engender wider understanding. That\’s very brave… she is no doubt having to dig deep within herself to do this. It\’s one thing to make a personal decision, it\’s another to put yourself out there and to explain in order to help others. Best of all for me, just by being Katie she is challenging stereotypes and showing that transgender people are really quite \’normal\’. Go Katie!
I saw the Youtube interview with Sarah Naylor, it was very inspiring !
Amazing role model
As the CEO of ChrysalisGIM – a charity supporting trans+ people, their friends and families I know how important positive role models are for trans people of all ages struggling with the need to be authentic whilst navigating the challenges of self acceptance and social transition. Katie\’s drive to normalise gender diversity and to promote acceptance, understanding and inclusion across workplaces really help with this. It takes more than a lot to be that person who stands up and asks to be counted, not just for themselves but for all those others who don\’t have a voice. As a trans role model I would also like to recognise the darker side of the world that Katie has to navigate, with hate crime rising and the perils of being visible and trans well documented that she manages to continue to support people, to continue to fight to make the world a better place is testament to why I\’m nominating her as for this award as positive role model
Manuela Neuroth
Katie speaks her truth to inspire & educate others. I especially love the message of how you can be trans & be happy, as this has a huge positive impact on the mental health of others. Katie is removing stigma, promoting diversity & gives hope to so many to live the life they are born to live.
Because she has been working really hard to bring awareness, love and support for trans rights in the UK. She speaks openly about all the issues she and other people face and advocates for those who cannot do so yet.
For the work the do in promoting trans people.

Katie is a positive role model and active member of the diversity and inclusion leaders Facebook group where Katie shares great content with others.
I have known Katie for many years and her dedication and passion, even through tough times, has been an inspiration for many people undergoing significant changes in their lives.
Katie deserves this award for her selfless desire to help others. She has experienced a great deal of hardship and heart ache but manages to stay positive and still has her sense of humour. Her honesty and openness have helped me to better understand what trans awareness means and why it is important.
Katie is a wonderful and inspirational woman and the work that she has done for the lgbtq+ community is incredible. She spreads the message about the importance of inclusivity and only ever puts love and good vibes into the world. Shes trans woman, fighting for trans rights and shes doing a damn good job,so good that I\’m at a loss for words. She is doing a fantastic job on educating the world on gay and trans inequalities and none of her posts or speeches have ever failed to grab my attention and draw me in
She’s INCREDIBLE! So inspiring to me, as a young trans person.
I have known Katie for a few years now and I find her to be engaging, understanding and very knowledgeable in every aspect of diversity. Her openness and willingness to share her own, often challenging, experiences makes her the perfect role model for others facing similar struggles. Her\’s is not a flawless story and she will admit that coming out was not an immediate route to happiness and I think this realism is of huge value to to those who read her story (or indeed hear it first hand for the lady herself). I do not often cast votes in awards but in this case I felt I must as I have seldom seen someone who can impart advice and learning in such a heart-felt way.
Cool2BTrans has supported many people and Katie is a real role model for the community. I have had the pleasure of working with Katie as part of Coventry Pride- she is a real asset and role model who is so passionate about LGBT+ community and deserves recognition for her hard work
Katie has been an inspiration to others and courageous in her journey. She has been brave in working with us at All of Us to raise the profile and understanding of trans people.
Katie’s videos and posts raise so much awareness on an area where people are either misinformed, wanting to understand more, or simply wanting to make sure they don’t cause offence to others. Her cheerful dispotion, and openness to tackle sometimes difficult conversations make understanding so much easier to navigate.
I feel trans issues are realy important and anyone doing so much to raise awareness is cool and deserves my vote!
Katie has been a great source of knowledge and is only to willing to help
Katie always talks to everyone with such warmth and kindness. She answers question after question and is unremittingly tolerant and accepting of others.
Just an inspiration, even to though who\’ve not met them.
Someone to watch xx

Katie is very open and honest about her trans journey and is a great inspiration to anyone who may be struggling on their own trans journey. She lives her life on her own terms, is authentic and is a positive role model for anyone in turmoil about their personal identity.
Katie is a wonderful caring and sharing lady. Even through her most amazing transition she saw it as an opportunity to support others. Truly inspiring and wholeheartedly deserves to win this award.
I have seen the work Katie does she has a gift to not only highlighting awareness but also ensuring we accept who we are. I\’m not transgender but to listen to her workshops and see the inspiration of her journey has touched and changed many lives. I cant think of anyone who would deserve this more.
Katie is a passionate person and carries a very friendly and positive character. She is very inclusive and creative and has achieved excellence in her field and made significant, observable changes.
Katie truly deserves this award. She was due to come to my place of work to talk to some members of staff – totally free of charge! Because of the lockdown we Unfortunately had to postpone, Katie was completely understanding and we look forward to rebooking with her. From the conversations I had with Katie I could tell she is so passionate about the work she does and has a great sense of humour along with it.
An absolute inspiration. Katie is incredibly authentic and approachable.
I have seen Katie speak and we are connected on LinkedIn. Her message of inclusion is clear, powerful and insightful, and invites allies to join her. Through her openness, Katie inspires me to be a better ally and fulls me with hope for a more equal society
I have had the pleasure of working with Katie for many years and she is a true ambassador for change, equality and inclusion. Her determination in supporting other people to understand trans issues and the bias they can face is truly inspirational.
Katie is completely open and honest about her journey and is truly passionate about sharing her story to help and empower others. She is driven to educate all she speaks to and loves working with businesses particularly as she knows she can reach so many people at once and help by demystify what it is to be transgender. Her passion, enthusiasm, warm and natural / authentic approach enables her to build rapport quickly and generate a positive vibe wherever she goes!!!
I am consistently impressed by Katie\’s work as a LGBTQI+ role model and her professional yet friendly style. Particularly her work on LinkedIn which takes her own personal story as Trans to a very wide community and helps to break down barriers. Katie\’s great sense of humour shines through in everything she does and I cannot think of a better positive role model for the LGBTQI+ community.
Katie is a Positive role model, she talks about her journey to support other people a real star.
Katie is an absolute inspiration for the journey she had been on and such a positive ambassador. Great for her to get increased recognition.
I’ve been a member of a business club for approx 12 months She has been educational explaining to me her journey to the transition, made time for other members and been inspirational to other people on both business ideas and relationships Furthermore I’ve been impressed how she has helped others deciding what to do about their own sexuality All of this she has done under difficult circumstances and running her own business someone to admire
Katie is a fantastic and genuine person she is a wonderful businesswoman having pivoted her business through her change she is encouraging to others in business and outside business and leads by example when talking about positive role models for others and inclusivity Katie deserves this award
Katie is totally inspiring. Not only interesting and passionate about supporting and promoting trans awareness, she is also really approachable, talented and a genuinely nice person. She naturally promotes what it is to be trans and to be positive about her place in the world. I happily vote vote for her.
Katie has been tireless in promoting LBGTQ+ issues and especially Trans Awareness in Leicester and beyond
I know Katie through her LinkedIn posts. They are really informative and helpful in creating better understanding of the trans community. They have assisted us with informing our Diversity & Inclusion approach.
Katie is a fantastic ambassador for both trans-people and all LGBT people She shows care , compassion and is a fantastic shoulder to lean on and guide, giving her account of what she has been through and sharing her journey to help others
I nominate Katie because she is an unbelievable person. Announcing to the world a few years ago she was transitioning from male to female having been so well known in her field of photography- her followers embraced her and supported her. Since then she has carved out a new future and inspired and supported so many others.
Katie is an outstanding ambassador for her community and a true inspiration to all who know her
A superb role model, dedicating her time to increasing wider awareness. Giving up her time to discuss with individuals going through their own internal battles.
I have been following Katie on social media and she has been very Frank and honest about her situation, her personal journey and transformation. She is very inspiring to listen to and is encouraging and informative. Many people find themselves in this difficult situation and have no one to turn to. Katie is making sure that their feelings are heard and offers support and guidance. She lets people make up their own minds but is on hand to show them the way forward when they are feeling lost and confused. Katie is very active in her role and is also a valued member of the community. She gives a lot of time and energy for free.
She is so passionate about creating Change and also makes people feel at ease when talking about transgendering. She is bridging the gap
Katie is a great trans role model who is really making waves in this space. I definitely think she’s a great newcomer deserving of this award
I met Katie on LinkedIn after an introduction because l work in the health and care sector. I love Katie\’s easy manner l had some questions and she was happy to answer them. She is doing an important job. Her voice needs to be heard l am a true believer that she has a unique style which means she can go into workplaces and help as well as on other stages.
Katie Neeves is a person to be greatly admired for her strength and bravery in leaving the safety of her world as a man who had built his business up and was recognised as a talented professional in his field and who then risked everything to be true to who he knew he really was – a woman who had been trapped inside for so long because he feared Society would not accept his situation. Well Martin you were awesome then and Katie- you are even more awesome and an inspiration to others in that same situation now. Well done and be proud if yourself !
Katie is driven, personable, accomplished, and highly visible within the LGBT+ community, which is exactly what we need at all times, but especially now when COVID-19 is creating such chaos. I see Katie as the perfect role model for any Diversity award.
Fantastic lady, selfish and really helps to promote diversity and inclusion.
Katie is such a brilliant trans ambassador. She\’s out and proud, and willing to talk to anyone who wants to understand more about what it is to be transgender. She has been so supportive of our family (our daughter is m to f trans). Katie is adept at myth busting, informing in a non-confrontational way, and helping create allies everywhere she goes. The world needs more Katies.
Katie has been so strong and brave to put her head out there as a role-model. To tell her story so publicly could open her up to negative comments but instead she is someone who offers support and help to others like her or who can relate to her. Well done Katie!
Katie is a brilliant ambassador for this cause.
Although we\’ve only recently connected, Katie has had such a positive impact on my thought processes. She speaks so eloquently and is working so hard to make a difference.
Because of all her amazing trans awareness and diversity work.
Katie has attended many meetings and has spoken to many of her younger peers about her story as well as support.
Katie first presented to our organisation as an extremely competent male professional photographer. We had no idea of her ambition to change gender, which she achieved with no fanfare, emerging bravely with her new identity. This transition must have taken amazing determination, commitment and resilience. I\’m proud to know Katie.
For being a powerful and effective role model for other trans people. By being high profile, this gives others a sense of hope and confidence with their own circumstances. Through LinkedIn, Katie has shown her strong ability to connect with others in order to engage a wider audience with the topic of what it means to be a trans person today,
Katie does so much to prompt diversity and understanding, I really feel she should be recognised for all that she does
Having met Katie and also attended one of the lectures, she is a lovely warm and conscientious person. With her determination to help other transgender people deal with all the trauma upset and confusion what is involved when you transition. I know what it’s like when you transition all the questions you have and emotions and all the problems that you get whether it’s at work or in your private life, Katie is dealing with these today and also helping other transgender people are being an ambassador for them. My own transition started seven year ago so I know what she’s going through and what other transgender people are going through and it’s nice to see someone standing up to help transgender people across the country and even in other countries around the world that’s why I’m nominating Katie Neeves.
Katie has such a sweet nature and is very level headed and fair minded.katie is thoughtful and good humoured, she would be an ideal ambassador becsuse her honesty and genuine concern for others shines through. Xx
She\’s an amazing role model.
Being there to help others in times of need
Katie is such an amazing soul, using her own journey to help others,
Katie has been tireless in educating all parts of the community in all things diversity and obviously in respect of trans awareness
Katie, is simply an inspiration and a respected person in our local business community. A warm, friendly, inclusive person who is supportive of everyone. An absolute gem.
What a great ambassador for the trans community
Katie has come a long way since she first told her friends she was trans. I have enjoyed watching her videos they have helped me to understand the challenges what fellow human people actually have to go through to become the person their soul wants them to be. Thank you
Katie is a phenomenal ambassador for trans people who need a voice. There’s a lot of work that needs to be done to combat people’s prejudice.
I\’ve met Katie in person and I believe in what she does. I\’m transgender myself and we have so many parallels. There will be parallels for many of us and it\’s good that Katie can stand up and speak for such a large number. I hope that one day I can stand alongside her and help double up the work she is doing.
Katie has been extremely brave in sharing her story however this is what is needed for others to see that’s it’s ok and it only needs to take one person to make a difference to someone else.
I first met Katie at the start of her transitioning journey as I have a trans daughter, and we have been able to share experiences and made a film together. It is a privilege to know Katie, and see how she shares her experiences using her existing skills, and promoting positive awareness of the experience of being transgender. Definitely a positive influence on diversity.
Katie has had to be very brave in coming to terms with who she really is and having been through this journey (realising that she still has support from many many people and is happier being her true self) is helping others who feel trapped or confused about who they are every day. She is saving lives and helping people lead happy lives, which is amazing. Katie is also spreading awareness to a large number of people so that they can understand why some people feel like they are a different gender to their body. Fantastic and admirable work Katie! xx
Katie is a true inspiration who wants to help others through telling her story. I am honoured to know her and to have witnessed some of her story. I think she would make an excellent winner and be a true ambassador for you and your awards.
Katie’s story is so inspiring..
Katie stands for so much & I really admire the courage & positivity she has shown throughout her journey & continues to do so by speaking out to help others.
Katie has worked single-handedly to change the view of businesses to understand the situation of trans individuals. Through interviews, talks, social media and setting up her business Cool2BTrans, she spread the news of the importance of diversity in all forms, but in particular, for the trans community. Katie has become a strong influencer and the go-to person for many organisations seeking to support their staff and create a better understanding of this sometimes isolated community. She has bravely shared her own story and become an Ambassador for the trans-community. Her work and contribution is important and should be recognised as she seeks to bring about a change to create more openness for trans individuals whose experience has long been ignored. Through her work within schools, she has helped trans young people to have a voice and to know that they have a voice and that their experience is not singular; thereby raising the confidence of individual trans-young people and reducing the level of suicide. I strongly believe that Katie is a real example of a Positive Role Model in both her actions, behaviours, commitment and passion for helping others. We need more people prepared to go the extra mile and beyond, putting both their business prospects and reputation on the line to highlight an area that has been overlooked. We need mored people like Katie.
An outstanding ambassador for the trans movement, accomplished communicator and overall a highly diverse aware woman
I first met Katie many years ago before she transitioned. I have learnt a lot from her in the last 2 years. She is a great rôle model for trans awarenessas. She has been very patient with educating and informing those of us that have not known a trans person before and have wanted to support her but not always known perhaps the right way to go about it and worried about inadvertently causing offence. Her support to other trans people whilst still maintaining her existing business to earn a living is to be applauded.
Katie is a positive role model especially for young transgender people who are particularly marginalised by our society and have no or little voice. She advocates for them and raises awareness of their existence and right to be recognised and accepted. We need more people like Katie! She absolutely deserves to be recognised for the valuable work that she does.
Katie is the most passionate and eloquent advocate for trans people that I have ever heard. She is fiercely determined to raise awareness of trans issues to create a more understanding society and is a proud and effective activist for trans individuals. I have rarely seen such selfless determination
Such a resource,such knowledge.
A pioneer leading the way to enlighten others with bravery and a mindset of helping others to live their best life
I met Katie only recently and was so impressed by her pragmatic approach and calm determination to break down prejudice. She has great clarity in her vision for a more inclusive society and is very focused and patient with bringing people round to understanding the transgender community. She uses education in science and psychology to great effect when explaining gender dysphoria but she does it so simply! I learned a great deal from talking with her and felt far more informed to have similarly inclusive discussions with other cis-gender people who perhaps need more education on the subject of transgender. I really hope she is successful with this award. There is a long way to go with transgender issues, for example: as a cis-gender female I was already aware of groups of cis-women who actively reject trans-women and it feels like a battle is opening up on all fronts against particularly trans-women. Even in the face of this provocation, Katie\’s approach is not to be aggressive but to be calm and respond appropriately, accurately and publicly to the issues raised. This gives the public a balanced view. She has really put herself out there since her transition and has not shied away. To use her transgender status as a spokesperson so soon after transitioning is to be greatly admired and gives hope & support to all those who are in the midst of their gender dysphoria or who have transitioned and feel they are struggling to integrate into society. I really think she deserves this award.
Katie is a very dedicated, brave and lovely person. She is helping so many people understand the difficulties trans people go through as well as helping trans people accept and love themselves. I am sure Katie will go from strength to strength in her ambassador role.
I\’ve not experienced any of Katie\’s talks personally but I met her at Sheffield gender clinic where we quickly became friends. Since then she has advised me on getting the word out there myself that there is nothing wrong with being trans. She\’s also supported me as I\’ve struggled my way through the waiting list. I know of her work and it gives me confidence going into the career world myself. It can be daunting at time when you are trans but people like Katie give me hope for the future.
Katie is an amazing role model and a incredible human being. Honoured and proud to know her. Her bravery throughout her transition has been remarkable; her authenticity and the support she provides to the Trans community, often in her own time, is astounding.
She has become an icon in presenting accurately real and trans issues. She is skillful knowledgeable and capable in putting across important matters to non trans people who want to know but don\’t really get it.Oh and she\’s attractive too which helps!
A great role model for inclusivity and ideal ambassador for trans rights
Katie is doing an amazing job – raising awareness, but more importantly helping people transition, supporting them through the difficulties that entails. She is really making a difference, and if she can help people to get strong mental health through this challenging time, and to get trans-acceptance up and more importantly trans-suicides eliminated then that would be a wonderful thing. Katie is a wonderful person and really deserves this accolade.
I know Katie really well and find her such an incredible role model. Her whole ethos is to make her journey as public as possible to help other trans people feel that they\’re not alone and to give them the courage to be openly who they need to be. The rate of suicide in the trans community is very high and she wants to try and change that as much as she possibly can by providing support as they go through the change and by educating the non trans community in how to accept them for who they really are. She\’s an amazing woman and wonderful human being!
Katie is an amazing person. She has such passion and enthusiasm but she displays it with such calm and humour. She shares so openly and happily making her very approachable and almost instantly a friend.
A focus, friendly and hardworking professional, not just for trans achievements, but in life in general – further, just an all round decent person.
She is reaching out to transgender people to support them mentally and spiritually. It helps to know you have someone at your back because transgenders are often not accepted into society. Transgenders theirselves are not always clear on how to proceed on making the most of their lives.
Katie Neeves is a wonderful caring human being who lives her passion, putting herself out there to support Trans rights and the people who are affected by them. She is a brave advocate, and works hard to get her message across. She honestly shares her real experiences to show what it has been like for her transitioning and living in her private and business life. Despite being very successful in her business which she built up as Martin Neeves, she has bravely gone out there speaking her truth, letting everyone know who she is. The trans community needs an advocate like her, she is an inspiration to anyone on their journey to who they are meant to be and the family and friends who support them.
She works endlessly spreading awareness on Diversity Nationaly
I have followed Katie Neeves of Cool2BTrans and she is a delightful transsexual woman who has taken on the full spectrum of the transgender issues educating people in order to bring acceptance and understanding. Her fresh and positively infectious delivery is destroying the myths surrounding transsexualism, non binary and other gender issues. She is not an aggressive advocate, but an entertainer, a powerful force for good. That is why I am supporting her and giving her my vote
Katie is an inspiration. She blends vulnerability with courage (and humour) and absolutely epitomises what we need to promote trans inclusion
Katie has been on an incredible journey over the last few years with any many challenges and changes in her own life. Despite this, Katie has opened up to the world and allowed us to be part of her journey. The impact that this has had on so many lives in truly outstanding, giving lots of people the courage they needed, or someone to talk to.
Katie is always so positive and approachable about being trans. She makes it very easy to ask her any questions as she’s so open. Young people would feel comfortable around her if they needed a confidant. Her regular posts on social media help people understand the difficulties of becoming trans and inform us of any relevant issues in the news. Katie is warm, open, consistent and a real asset and shining light for her community.
Katie is such an inspiration. The journey she has taken has been most open and honest which has been helpful to so many people who are trans. I volunteer for SHOUT and have recommended the Cool2bTrans website to a couple of texters and have referred people to Katie either personally through FB messenger or through the website.
Katie is an inspirational person, not only because of her courage and openness in sharing her transitional journey in order to increase awareness of trans issues and reduce discrimination, but also because of her amazing positivity, focus and determination in life. However she manages to fit in all that she does I’ll never know! Put simply, her energy and commitment in all she does are a total inspiration to me.
Katie does some brilliant work raising much needed awareness for the Trans community and educating others about what it means to be trans. In the current climate where Phobia are commonplace, I feel we need to nurture and support people like Katie who is dispelling stereo types, sharing her story which must take some real courage. She is an inspiration to many and deserves to be recognised for her important work.
Katie shares her personal journey as trans ambassador and Diversity& Inclusion trainer. Kate is transgender and has lived her truth as her authentic self fully since 2018. She has worked tirelessly to help others going through their their own personal transition and shares her own experiences Katie is a full time trainer and now works with major companies to educate and help staff understand the issues faced if you are transgender and not just in the work place. Katie says all she wants is a to be happy and live her life She is an inspiration to so many and deserves recognition for all her efforts sometimes in the face of adversity
Someone who is brave enough to share their transition publicly and confidently to help others. A mentor and educator. Katie delivers fantastic education and I have booked her a number of times to talk at the University of Leicester.
Katie has been an inspirational transgender role model, helping so many people understand her transition & talking about it in a way that is engaging, open, fun, and at times painfully honest. She has embraced her journey with demonstrable compassion for those it has affected (both positively, as a brilliant role model for others sharing a similar journey) and for those who love her but have found it a hugely challenging journey. Kate’s media profile has grown significantly and has remained authentic, compassionate for others & insightful throughout. Proud to have been able to support her on her journey. Good luck to her & all other nominees!
Katie is a transgender working tirelessly to promote trans awareness via Cool to be Trans. She is my diversity hero. I have been following her story and getting to know her over the past few months. She it s a true inspiration to me as she continues to fight for others and herself. Check out www.cool2btrans.co.Uk
